I'm a Ph.D. student in economics with a background in writing and journalism. At Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, I double majored in English and, begrudgingly at first, economics in order to avoid the unemployed writer stereotype. A summer research project on inequality and world development got me genuinely interested in the discipline. I later worked as a reporter covering emerging energy resources and technology in the Western U.S. until I discovered that most of the questions I was asking were economic in nature, and I wanted to delve into them more deeply. My current research interests are in technology adoption, information, and regulatory and conservation mechanisms in the context of natural resource and environmental economics, from fisheries to global warming.
Research Interests:
Natural resource impacts and management implications of technological change
