Brief Biography
Born in northern California, I attended UC Davis for my undergraduate degree.  I have since traveled much of South and Central America, been to Europe and New Zealand.  I have worked abroad and at home on projects ranging from kelp and stream ecology to lab work on invasive plant pathogens and population surveys for the endangered Great Grey Owl.

My interests in biology are broad, but I seek these things in projects I undertake:  a connection to physiology (which I have found perpetually fascinating), a significant field portion, an ecological context, the ability to emphasize the global nature of our effects on ecosystems, and most importantly, the potential for a significant conservation impact.

Research Interests:
•    sea bird ecology
•    physiological and biochemical effects of pollutants
•    natural capital concepts
•    behavioral, genetic and physiological traits allowing adaptability to human stressors
•    physiological and behavioral effects of light and noise pollution
•    human overpopulation
